About

The Cayuga Nation of New York is a federally recognized tribe of Cayuga people, based in New York, United States. Other organized tribes with Cayuga members are the federally recognized Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma and the Canadian-recognized Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation in Ontario, Canada. The Cayuga Nation is one of the six nations of the Iroquois Confederacy. The Cayuga Nation are the People of the Great Swamps or The Gayogoho:no. They are also known as the Keepers of the Pipe. The Tree of Peace was the Haudenosaunee's main symbol. The club under the tree represented that the Iroquois would not use violence against each other.
