The Cree Nation of Waskaganish is a Cree band in Quebec, Canada. Waskaganish means little house in Cree. The First Nation is located at the mouth of the Rupert River on the south-east shore of James Bay in the Eeyou Istchee territory in Northern Quebec, Canada. Formerly called Fort Rupert, the location is one of three original Hudson's Bay Company posts on James Bay. Waskaganish terre réservée crie (or Cree reserved land) is a reserve for the Nation. The band is the oldest Cree community in the James Bay.
