About

Cree Nation of Wemindji is a small Cree community on the east coast of James Bay at the mouth of the Maquatua River in Quebec, Canada. The community is a part of the Abitibi-Baie-James-Nunavik-Eeyou district. The total area of Wemindji is about 3,266 hectares. As of November 2021, the Nation has 1,645 registered members, including 1,454 residing on their own reserve.
