Dease River Indian Band

About

The Dease River First Nation is a band of the Kaska Dena people in the Cassiar Country of the Northern Interior of British Columbia. The First Nation split From Liiard River in 1994 and its offices are located in Good Hope Lake, on the Stewart-Cassiar Highway to the east of the abandoned mining town of Cassiar. The band has four reserves totaling 80.20 ha. Danez_gé’  is the native language of the people, and the band is part of the Kaska Dena Council. As of July 2021, the Nation had 182 registered members, including 35 residing on their own reserve.
