Essipit First Nation

Essipit First Nation (known as Les Escoumins until 1996) is an Innu band in the Canadian province of Quebec. It is located on the north shore of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence in the Côte-Nord region. It's reserve is named after the Escoumins River, that around 1664, was known as Esseigiou. As of November 2021, the Nation has 1,034 registered members, including 235 residing on their own reserve.
