Lax Kw’alaams Band is a First Nation located on the northwest coast of British Columbia. The people are the descendants of the Nine Tribes of the Tsmishian, which consists of Giluts’aaw, Ginandoiks, Ginaxangiik, Gispaxlo’ots, Gitando, Gitlaan, Gits’iis, Gitwilgyoots, and Gitzaxlaal. The traditional language of the people is Sm’algyax. As of June 2021, the Nation had 3,983 registered members, including 658 residing on their own reserve.
