About
The Lower Kootenay First Nation is a band based in the East Kootenay region of British Columbia. It is located on around 6,000 acres in Creston Valley along the banks of the Kootenay River. The main community is located 4 kilometers south of Creston and just north of the USA border on Simon Road. The people's native language is Ktunaxa. The band is associated with the Ktunaxa Kinbasket Treaty Council. As of July 2021, the Nation had 248 registered members, including 110 residing on their own reserve.
