About
The Membertou First Nation is a Mi'kmaq First Nation band in the tribal district of Unama'ki (Cape Breton Island), Nova Scotia. Membertou is mostly an urban First Nation community. It is named after the Grand Chief Henri Membertou (1510-1611). The Membertou First Nation belongs to the greater tribal group of the Mi'kmaq Nation. As of August 2021, the Nation had 1,595 registered members, including 946 residing on their own reserve.
