Metlakatla First Nation is a band based at Metlakatla on the North Coast of British Columbia, Canada, 5 km to the north of the city of Prince Rupert. It is a member of the Tsimshian First Nations treaty council. Metlakatla means 'saltwater pass' in Sm'algyax, the language of the Coast Ts’msyen (Tsimshian). As of June 2021, the Nation had 1,018 registered members, including 94 residing on their own reserve.
