About
Mishkeegogamang First Nation is an Ojibway band government (First Nation) in the Canadian province of Ontario. Until 1993, the band was called the Osnaburgh First Nation. Mishkeegogamang is located about 500 km northwest of Thunder Bay, Ontario, and about 30 km south of Pickle Lake, Ontario. The Nation's land base consists of two reserves, the smaller Osnaburgh Indian Reserve 63A and the larger Osnaburgh Indian Reserve 63B.
Mishkeegogamang descends historically from a mixture of two primary ancestral and cultural traditions of Oji-Cree and the people speak Ojibwe Anishinaabemowin. Just over 900 people live on its two reserves, while about 500 live off the reserve.
