The Montagnais of Unamen Shipu is an Innu Indian band in Quebec, Canada. The name Unamen Shipu means “red river” in Innu-aimun. It refers to the Romaine river where the stone rolled by the stream is red. The people live mainly on the Indian reserve of La Romaine, located in the region 's North Shore. It covers an area of 42.6  hectares. The band is affiliated with the Regroupement Mamit Innuat. The language of the Montagnais is Innu-aimun. As of November 2021, the Nation has 1,243 registered members, including 1,159 residing on their own reserve.
