Montagnais of Pakua Shipi

Montagnais of Pakua Shipi is an Innu community in the Canadian province of Quebec. Pakuashipi is the Innu name of the Saint-Augustin River and means "shallow river." The community is located on the north shore of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence in the Côte-Nord region. It is on the western shore of the mouth of the Saint-Augustin River, opposite the settlement of Saint-Augustin. The people live on an Indian settlement (not reserve) within the Municipality of Saint-Augustin. As of November 2021, the Nation has 400 registered members, including 347 residing on their own crown land.
