Diomede (RussianДиомид, native name Iŋaliq, meaning "the other one" or "the one over there") is a village in the Nome Census Area of the Unorganized Borough of the U.S. state of Alaska, located on the west coast of Little Diomede Island.[5] Little Diomede is the smaller of the two Diomede Islands located in the middle of the Bering Strait between the Alaskan mainland and the Russian Far East. Its neighboring island, Big Diomede, Russia, lies behind the International Date Line less than 2.4 miles away. Diomede is the only settlement on Little Diomede Island. The population was 115 at the 2010 census,
