Sandy Lake First Nation is an independent Oji-Cree First Nations band in the west part of Northern Ontario. It is located in the Kenora District, 227 km northeast of Red Lake, Ontario. The First Nation's land base is the 4,266 ha Sandy Lake 88 Reserve. As of May 2021, the total registered population was 3,181, with 2,647 people residing on their own reserve. The band is affiliated with Nishnawbe Aski Nation, as a signatory to Treaty 5. The Sandy Lake First Nation speaks the Oji-Cree language and uses the variant western Ojibwe Syllabics.
