Shuswap Indian Band

About

The Shuswap Indian Band is a First Nation located in the East Kootenay region of the Canadian province of British Columbia. It is a member of the Shuswap Nation Tribal Council and the Ktunaxa Kinbasket Tribal Council. The band's main reserve, the Shuswap Indian Reserve, is located one mile north of Invermere, in the Columbia Valley region of the Rocky Mountain Trench. Its reserve land area totals 1,866.50 ha and the people's native language is Secwepemctsín. As of July 2021, the Nation had 272 registered members, including 83 residing on their own reserve.
