About

The Łutsël K'é Dene First Nation is a First Nations band in the Dehcho Region of Canada's Northwest Territories. The band is headquartered in the community of Łutselk'e, on the East Arm of Great Slave Lake. It achieved the vision of protecting its land and waters for future generations in 2019 by signing agreements with national and territorial governments to officially create Thaidene Nëné, a 26,000 square kilometer protected area between the Canadian boreal forest and the arctic tundra. As of May 2021, the Nation has a total of 815 registered members, including 10 residing on their own reserve.
