About
The Uchucklesaht First Nation is a First Nation based on the west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. It is a member of the Maa-Nulth First Nations. The Uchucklesaht Tribe has two villages that are situated about 24 miles down the Barkley Sound, southwest of Port Alberni: Cowishulth and Hilthatis (Ehthlateese). As of June 2021, the Nation had a total of 241 registered members, including 27 residing on their own reserve. The Uchucklesaht speak a dialect of Nuu-chah-nulth (Nuučaan̓uɫ).
