The Tübatulabal, an indigenous people of Kern River Valley in the Sierra Nevada range of California, are believed to have been the first inhabitants of the area, establishing it as their permanent home. Today, many of them are enrolled in the Tule River Indian Tribe. Their lineage traces back to the Uto-Aztecan language group, with a separation from the Shoshone people occurring approximately 3,000 years ago.
