About
The Da'naxda'xw Nation, or Da'naxda'xw/Awaetlatla Nation, is a First Nation in northern Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. The band is an amalgamation of the Da'naxda'xw and Awaetlala tribes of Knight Inlet. Its main village is Tsatsisnukwomi, also known as New Vancouver, located on Harbledown Island. The Nation is a member of the Kwakiutl District Council and the Winalagalis Treaty Group. The Da'naxda'xw Aweatlata Nation was formerly known as the Tanakteuk First Nation. As of July 2021, the Nation had 240 registered members, including 19 residing on their own reserve.
